Thai Boxing (or Muay Thai as it is known in Thailand) is the sport form of Muay Boran which is a 2,000 year old martial arts system that utilizes striking, clinching and grappling techniques. Muay Boran was used in Ancient times as a batlefield self defense system and because of its effectiveness it is still taught to many government militaries all over the world today.

Muay Thai is known as the "art of 8 limbs" because it requires the use of punches, elbows, knees, and kicks. It is a combat sport that will challenge you both physically and mentally because it creates a very intense fitness training regimen which is why it is one of the leading weight loss systems used by professional trainers in the world today.

The sport primarily combines Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu into one effective self defense system.

The big league organization is The Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) and it started in 1993 by a Brazillian Jiu Jitsu family known as the Gracies. Today you can see it on national TV regularly and order one of the many pay-per-views advertised just about everywhere!
